Social Media News Release

8 May

A Social Media News Release is basically a way for PR practitioners to share press releases with each other via the internet or as Brian Solis describes them “Social media releases are designed to get the conversation going.” There are several advantages as well as disadvantages to SMNR’s. Some of the advantages include the fact that PR practitioners can write in the style they feel most comfortable with, as well as the style that best suits their client. The ability to include tags in your SMNR is another great advantage. A tag will allow the SMNR to come up within a search engine when any of the keywords are included in the search. The most obvious advantage is that an SMNR allows PR practitioners to circulate their press releases all around the world in a matter of minutes. While there are many advantages with using an SMNR there are a few disadvantages. One disadvantage is that while you can write in whatever style best suits your client you have to be very careful of what information you release. An SMNR is something that EVERYONE can see, and not everyone has good intentions. Another disadvantage is a risk you take with everything. Since SMNR’s are released to the public so quickly, a poorly executed SMNR could cause some damage to the clients reputation.

PR Practitioners should definitely be using SMNR’s. If there is anything I learned in this course is that clients will hire you if you have the ability to utilize the usual forms of communication as well as those that are popular at the moment. Not only do SMNR’s have the ability to be seen and read by hundreds of thousands of people, but they are also one of the best, and fastest ways to get your company and/or product into the public’s eye.

Two websites that can help PR practitioners create SMNR’s: www.reelwire.com and www.prxbuilder.com

My SMNR for Adrenaline Show Choir:  http://www.prxbuilder.com/link.aspx?p=1605

The purpose of my SMNR is to announce the appointment of Allyson Lumpkin as the new Director and President of Adrenaline Show Choir. The goal of this particular SMNR is to introduce Allyson as the new President of this organization which has had the same president for the past four years. The target audience of the SMNR would be university officials, various performance groups and local businesses that Adrenaline has worked with in the past. This would serve as an introduction between them and Allyson, since that is who they are going to be working with from now on.

5 Tips for SMNR Creation

1.Create multiple links to your release so that different people will have access to it.

2. Use relevant information. There is no need to include information that is not related to the purpose of  your release.

3. Include general keywords, that way your release pops up and is able to be viewed by people who weren’t necessarily looking for it.

4. Write in an objective manner.

5. Make sure all information is accurate and up to date.

The End of the Road

6 May

I can’t believe that this semester is already over. I must say that this was one of my most trying semesters. I was taking 19 hours, VP of an organization and I had various personal issues going on as well….but despite all that I survived yet another semester here at Georgia Southern University. My high of this semester is simple………I survived Web Page Development. I definitely thought I was going to be failing that class and I will end the semester with a B!!!! YAY ME!!!! My lows of this semester have to deal with the very beginning of the semester, especially in this class. I had so much going on that I allowed my school work to slack off completely, but thankfully I got back on track. I wouldn’t change much except I will NEVER take 19 hours in one semester ever again. The one thing I’ve learned from this semester is that staying organized is key to being successful.

Bucket List

29 Apr

My bucket list is pretty simple, especially since most of it involves me winning awards for performing, traveling, and doing crazy things!!!

1. Win a Tony

2. Win a Grammy

3. Win an Oscar

4. Live in Paris for 5 years

5. Sky Dive

6. Have an experience similar to the one from The Hangover (minus the drugs, and being hit by Mike Tyson)

Thinking about how you would like to be remembered once you die is really hard. This is most difficult because you have to think about dying and let’s be honest no one wants to think about their death. I would like to be remembered as someone who always stood up for what she believed in. A person that worked hard, and dedicated herself to accomplishing her goals. I also want to be remembered as a great daughter, mother, wife, grandmother, friend, sister, cousin, god-mother, client, etc. etc. Most of all I want people to remeber as a unique individual, and realize that  there will NEVER be another Jaleesa Nicole Jackson!!!

Shoes sent from Heaven

26 Apr

I will be taking donations until I get the $5,000 to purchase these Christian Louboutin Platforms (HELL YES  I would spend 5 grand on a pair of shoes, maybe that’s an issue but who are you to judge). Beyonce wore them at the NBA All Star game earlier this year and they are on FINALLY available for purchase by us non famous folk!!!!!

They are soooooooooooooooo sparkly, and pretty, and to die for!!!!!
